Tirah General Population 2018 is a landrace cannabis accession from Tirah, a hashish-producing area in the mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, on the border with Afghanistan, sold as Tirah in the seed catalogue of The Real Seed Company (RSC) in 2019.[1][2] RSC described it as a pure Hindu Kush landrace of the 2018 harvest from the Tirah Valley, a renowned centre of hashish production in northwest Pakistan.[1] The lot is no longer on sale: the listing has since sold seed of the 2019, 2022 and 2024 harvests.[3]
Geography
RSC gave a latitude of 33° N. It placed the Tirah Valley in a region once known as the Tribal Agencies, a mountainous and ethnically Pashtun area beyond the direct control of the Pakistani government, and writes that the valley cuts through the Orakzai, Kurram and Khyber agencies.[1]

Cultivation Details
RSC gave the purpose as charas (sieved resin) and the harvest as late September through October, and listed outdoor, greenhouse or indoor growing.[1] It wrote that the seed produced vigorous, healthy seedlings but that its viability had tested at only about 60 per cent; its policy was not to list seed below 80 per cent viability, but because of the importance of Hindu Kush landraces it sold this lot at half price.[1]
Botanical Characteristics
The listing gave the lot's height, aroma and characteristics as unknown. It wrote that Tirah landraces are typically Indica-type plants, short and heavily branched with relatively broad leaflets, though Sativa-type variants occur, as in the "Khyber Sativa" strain of old seedbank catalogues.[1]
