Sibpur Botanic Garden General Population 1901 is a historical seed accession of Cannabis sativa that the United States Department of Agriculture received from the Royal Botanic Garden at Sibpur, Calcutta on 31 May 1901 and numbered plant introduction (PI) 6671.[1] No seed of the lot survives. The National Plant Germplasm System, whose database carries the department's introductions, says the accession "no longer exists and can not be requested".[1]

The lot

The department's printed inventory lists the lot under Cannabis indica, hemp, from the Royal Botanic Garden at Sibpur, Calcutta, received on 31 May 1901.[2] Two months earlier the department had received another lot of Indian hemp from Calcutta through the garden's superintendent, David Prain (NPG-IND-WEB-0019010001).[3]
