Balkh Hash Plant 2018 is a seed accession of the cannabis line that Khalifa Genetics sells under the name Balkh Hash Plant. The company calls it a hash-plant landrace from Balkh Province in northern Afghanistan and says that the seed was collected near the city of Balkh in 2018.[1]
Geography
The company calls Balkh arguably the centre of the Afghan hashish tradition. It says that the province produces some of the best sieved hashish in the world, among them the kinds called "Milk of Mazar" and "Old Golden One", and that farmers there have grown the line for centuries to make a sweet and fruity hashish.[1]
Collection Details
Khalifa Genetics writes: "Landrace Genetics, central Asian landrace expert, personally aquired the seeds in the Balkh Province near the city of Balkh in 2018." It says that it has since adapted the line to indoor growing by reducing hermaphroditism and the number of undesirable phenotypes while keeping much of its genetic diversity.[1] ACE Seeds, which stocks the line, labels its seed a fourth-generation pure indica landrace (P4), "open pollinated indoors to increase the sexual stability".[2]
Cultivation Details
ACE Seeds puts indoor flowering at 9 to 11 weeks and the outdoor harvest in the first half of October.[2] The company calls the line easy to grow and fairly quick to flower. It says that the fastest-flowering plants usually have broad leaflets and medium yields while the longer-flowering plants can yield heavily, and that the plants need more nutrients than most landraces but less fertiliser than most modern hybrids.[1]
Botanical Characteristics
The company says that the plants look alike at first and diverge in aroma, shape and colour once they flower. Their leaflets range from broad to narrow. The frame is sturdy, with a large, sturdy main stem that rarely needs support even under heavy buds. About 10% of the plants gradually turn black during flowering, and some are black in leaf and flower by the end.[1]
Aroma
ACE Seeds lists fruity, lime, earthy and floral notes with a smell of burnt rubber.[2]
Effects
The company describes a clear stone with body relaxation, relaxing and insightful, without couch-lock. It says that potency varies from plant to plant with the ratio of THC to CBD, from high-CBD plants to high-THC ones.[1]
