Kerala Chellakutti General Population is a landrace cannabis accession acquired by Coco Genes from local farmers in a remote part of the southern Western Ghats in Kerala, India, near the Tamil Nadu border.[1] No source is a Coco Genes listing of its own; the line is documented entirely through resellers of downstream material and forum mentions.
Geography
Khalifa Genetics, which received seed from Coco Genes, describes the source as "a remote mountainous area near the Tamil Nadu border" in the southern Western Ghats of Kerala.[1] No more specific locality, district or coordinate is stated by any source consulted.
Collection Details
Khalifa Genetics states that "our friend from the Collector's Collective (Coco Genes) acquired the seeds directly from local Kerala farmers wanting to help preserve this endangered cultivar."[1] Mandala Seeds' resale listing gives the same account and adds that Coco Genes "gifted [the seeds] to the Khalifa crew for further development," a step Khalifa's own page does not itself describe.[2] ACE Seeds' listing of the resulting Khalifa product describes it as a "Landrace Strain (P2) open pollinated indoors to increase the sexual stability," a breeding step performed on the material after it left Coco Genes and not a description of the collected population itself.[3] Separately, an Overgrow user reports that their "kerala came directly from coco genes, not the land race team."[4] No source states a collection date.
