Aphai sali (ยาอไภยสาลี, also อภัยสาลี) is a powdered medicine of Thai traditional medicine of twenty drugs, cannabis among them, for colic, a bloated belly and wind. Renu Pongsaree and co-authors trace it to the first volume of the Vejjasueksa phaetsart sangkhep of Phraya Phitsanuprasatwet, of R.S. 127 (1908–09).[1]: 21 Vichai Chokevivat names the same text, dated 1909.[2]: 334, 340 It was one of the 16 cannabis formulas that the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine named in January 2019 for use once the narcotics law allowed it.[3]

The twenty drugs, as Pongsaree and co-authors prepared the formula, are nutmeg, mace, cardamom, cloves, the fruit of phi lang ka sa, sweet flag, kot so, kot khamao, four kinds of thian seed, the root of chettamun phloeng, two kinds of myrobalan, the tuber of buk, hatsakhun thet, chan thet, cannabis and young pepper.[1]: 21–22 Thanetphon Punpeng and co-authors list the formula in the same text, with the plant named and no part, for all eighty kinds of wind.[4]: 167

The formula was also made without cannabis. Chokevivat wrote in 2019 that Aphai sali had already been put on the national list of essential herbal medicines with the cannabis taken out, while cannabis was still a Category 5 narcotic, which suggested to him that cannabis may not be its main drug.[2]: 335 The form on the national list of 2023 contains no cannabis.[5]: 48 The cannabis form was one of the 15 cannabis formulas used at the Thai-medicine cannabis clinic of the Rajamangala University of Technology Isan in Sakon Nakhon between February 2020 and January 2022.[6]: 6–7
