Kroeng Krawia General Population 2024 is a domesticate landrace cannabis accession documented by Eloise in 2025. Seeds were sourced from traditional landrace populations in Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand, within the Tenasserim Hills growing region. This accession represents a general population of Kroeng Krawia cultivated using open-pollination and direct seeding methods.
Geography
This accession originates from the Tenasserim Hills of western Thailand. The region is culturally diverse, with Karen, Mon, and Burmese communities who historically cultivated cannabis for medicinal, spiritual, and recreational purposes. Plants grow at elevations of 200–300 meters in rugged mountainous terrain.
Collection Details
Seeds were collected on-farm by Éloïse in 2025. The accession represents a general population rather than a specific phenotype selection. Seeds were produced through open-pollination and direct seeding practices.
Botanical Characteristics
Plants reach 1–3 meters in height and display narrow leaves with a Christmas tree growth pattern. Flower structure is typically loose with foxtailed colas. Aroma is complex, combining incense and bright lemon citrus notes. Terpene profile reflects its psychoactive potency. Flowering occurs under short-day conditions.
Two primary expressions are present within the population:
- **Tiger Tail (Hang Suea):** Bold, robust structure with dense trichomes.
- **Squirrel Tail (Hang Krarok):** Delicate, elongated colas with lighter, airier flowers and sweet, floral aroma.
Conservation Status
This accession is critically important due to limited remaining seed stock and threats from genetic introgression and cultural erosion. The current cultivation status is unknown. Preservation efforts are ongoing through the Zomia Genetic Library.
