Wang 13459 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected from cultivation in Gansu (then Kansu), China, at 2,200 m on 10 August 1942 by 王作賓 (Wang Tso-pin). The Northwestern Institute of Botany in Yangling holds the sheet as WUK0069241[1].
Collection and locality
The sheet carries a printed form of the herbarium of the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences (中國科學院植物研究所植物標本室), filled in by hand. It gives the collector and number 王作賓 13459, the date 1942年8月10日 (10 August 1942), a place name beginning 甘肅 (Kansu) whose next three characters, in a cursive hand, were not read with confidence, the habitat 栽培 (cultivated), an altitude of 2,200 m, the habit 草本 (herb), a height of 2 m and pale green flowers (淡綠色). Two tags tied to the stems repeat the number 13459.[2] The catalogue gives the collector, the number and the year.[1]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries three long, branched stems with leaves and dense flowering tops. A determination slip names the plant Cannabis sativa L., determined by 傅坤俊 (Fu Kun-tsun).[2] The Chinese Virtual Herbarium publishes its sheet images under a non-commercial, no-derivatives licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0); they are read and cited here, not reproduced.
