Evidentiary scope

The Plants of S. India label gives Hosur in Salem District, an altitude of 3,000 feet, collection number 490 and the date 2.8.32; the catalogue's locality reads South India. Dt. Salem. Hosur. The label supplies no habitat, cultivation status, common name or use. Neither the collection locality nor the later determination, made in 1975, shows whether the plant was cultivated or spontaneous. The accession is classified Unknown. The sheet shows no continuing population and no living germplasm holding, and no conservation priority is assigned.

Georeferencing

The label records Hosur in Salem District at 3,000 feet. Current Tamil Nadu government records place Hosur in Krishnagiri District; the infobox uses the current administrative hierarchy. The label names the city but not a collection point within it, so the coordinate is Hosur's own point in OpenStreetMap (node 983364958), 12.73, 77.83, used as a locality georeference rather than as a reconstructed collection point. Hosur stands at about 880 m against the label's 3,000 feet, which is 914 m. The altitude was converted to approximately 914 m.

The coordinate georeferences the place the label names, at two decimal places, with the mapped object named above. The collector's name is transcribed from the sheet as Mrs. Kanoth Yeshoda.
