Evidentiary scope
The label is completed by hand Приморский край, Владивостокский район, бл. с. Ленчи…е, сорное. (Primorsky Krai, Vladivostok raion, near the village of Lenchi…e; weedy), with the date 26 IX 1950 г. (26 September 1950). One letter of the village name is read with doubt. The label gives no use and no note on cultivation. The accession is classified Feral, by inference from the label; the label does not say whether the plants descended from a crop. A single gathering does not establish a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned. An earlier version of this note classified the sheet as Other because a single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population.
Label reading
Read twice, independently, from the holder's image (6635 × 9832 pixels). The page states only what the readings agree.
- Slip (above the label). By hand Cannabis sativa L.; printed 195 . . . . . . . . Определ. (blank).
- Label. Printed ГЕРБАРИЙ / Главного ботанического сада Академии наук СССР / by hand Cannabis ruderalis Janisch. / Приморский край, / Владивостокский район, / бл. с. [village] , / сорное. / № 5215 / 26 IX 1950 г. / printed собрал, определил and a signature.
- Readings that differ. The village was read Л[я/е]нчихе and Ленчике; a third look gives Ленчи[х/к]е: the readings agree on Ленчи-е and differ on one letter. The first reading's ок. с. is corrected to бл. с. (both mean near the village). The signature was read В. Ворошилов and З. Воро…ов; a third look finds Ворошилов with an unclear initial, and the collector field takes the catalogue's Voroshilov, without an initial.
- A pencilled 1973 in the lower right corner, in the hand seen on nearly every sheet of this series in the Moscow depository, says nothing about its purpose and is not used.
Georeferencing
No point is given. The label's village, written Ленчи…е, is very probably Lyanchikhe (Лянчихе), a village that the Russian Wikipedia places in what is now Vladivostok and names after the river that was called Lyanchikhe until 1972 and is now the Bogataya. The village itself was not found in any map or gazetteer consulted: OpenStreetMap carries the river and three streets named Лянчихинская, near 43.24, 132.01, but no settlement, and no source read says where in the river's valley the village stood or what became of it. The herbarium's database publishes the point 43.256984, 132.040591 and marks it as not taken from the label; it lies in Vladivostok, 1.4 km from the Bogataya and 2.3 km from the nearest of those streets, which shows the right valley but not the village, and it is not used. The province field takes Primorsky Krai.
Editorial treatment
Place. The readings agree on the village as Ленчи…е and differ on one letter. The only place of a like name found near Vladivostok is Lyanchikhe (Лянчихе): the Russian Wikipedia gives it as the name, until 1972, of the river now called the Bogataya, the largest river within Vladivostok, and as a Korean village of the Primorye, ныне территория Владивостока (now within the territory of Vladivostok). The locality takes Lyanchikhe on that evidence; the article gives the label's own form.
Taxon. The infobox takes the label's own Cannabis ruderalis Janisch. The slip's Cannabis sativa L. is reported in the article; it is neither dated nor signed.
Collector. The collector and determiner fields take the catalogue's Voroshilov. The label's initial is not clearly legible, no source read for this page gives a first name, and he is not linked.
Source discrepancies
- The catalogue's point is marked as not taken from the label (see Georeferencing).
