Border

The border is Ukhrul District as it stood from 1983 to 2016: the present Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, from their OpenStreetMap administrative relations (about 4,500 km²; the district administration gives 4,544 km² for the district before Kamjong was made from it). The sources on cultivation in Ukhrul, Raman's 2014 case study and 2016 book and the Eastern Mirror report of January 2014, all predate the creation of Kamjong District in December 2016, so their "Ukhrul district" takes in both. Kamjong on its own appears only in The Federal's list of districts where cannabis is mainly grown (2020), which is why the two make one appellation and not two.

Name

The appellation keeps the district's name. The district was called Manipur East District from 1969 to 1983.
