Evidentiary scope

The label gives a name, a mountain belt, a collector and a number. There is no date, no altitude, no habitat and no use, so the accession is classified Other and carries no conservation priority. It documents a numbered Thomson gathering of Cannabis from the mountains of northern India.

Georeferencing

Mountains of Northern India is a belt and not a place, so no province, district, locality or coordinate is asserted. The country alone is carried, as it is on Thomson s.n. (by 1878).

Editorial treatment

The label carries no gathering date, so the title takes the (by <year>) form with the collector's death year as the limit: Thomas Thomson lived from 1817 to 1878 (IPNI 10621-1). The collection date field is left empty.

The number 229 is Thomson's own, written on the label after his name, so the title uses the standard collector and number form and needs no locality. That also keeps it distinct from his unnumbered sheet.
