Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The label describes the plant as a Cultivated herb, uncommon on lowland at NE: Loei, Si Than forest. on 18 March 1958, and gives the local name Kan cha (the Thai name for cannabis). It records no use. The catalogue gives the habitat without the word cultivated. Drug-type cannabis from different regions began to be cross-bred, and its seed carried into old growing areas, in the 1970s (McPartland and Small 2020, pp. 84–85), so a hybrid origin is not considered for a sheet gathered in 1958. The accession is classified Landrace, by inference from the label. The sheet does not show what became of the crop or whether its seed survives, and no conservation priority is assigned.

Georeferencing

The label names the Si Than forest in Loei and gives no altitude. The name was not found in OpenStreetMap by Nominatim or by an Overpass search of Loei Province. A forest has no single point to stand for. No coordinate is asserted.

Editorial treatment

The collector field uses the label form P. Suvarnakoses.

The infobox image is the Forest Herbarium's own scan of SN 009253, which the herbarium publishes with all rights reserved. It is used under fair use, with the rationale on its file page.

Source discrepancies

  • The Forest Herbarium catalogue gives the habitat as Uncommon on lowland. The label reads Cultivated herb, uncommon on lowland. The article reports both.
