How the border is drawn

  • Where this border meets the border of a neighbouring place, the two share one line, drawn once. Along the Cardamom Mountains and beside Koh Kapik the region now takes the area's line. Redrawing it that way changed the area by under 1%: about 46,700 km², down from about 47,000.

Sources

The page's sources are US government reports, press and television reports, a 1998 magazine article (Gilboa, Cannabis Culture), Crévost and Lemarié's 1919 catalogue of Indochinese fibre plants, a 2012 vulnerability assessment of Koh Kong and Kampot, and Martin's 1975 ethnobotanical chapter. None is a morphological or genetic study comparing plants from Kirivong, Koh Kong, the Cardamom corridor and the Mekong lowlands, and none measures how far imported or hybrid seed has entered the region. GBIF's two preserved cannabis specimens filed under Cambodia, both at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle in Paris, were collected at Phnom Penh (M. Martin, 1973) and on Phú Quốc in the Gulf of Thailand (1938).
