Evidentiary scope
The printed label of the Schlagintweit herbarium gives Western Himálaya, province Símla, and locality Environs of Simla (the environs of Shimla). It records a collection interval of 1–20 May 1856 and a height of 6,000–7,300 English feet, about 1,829–2,225 m. It gives a regional locality, a date interval and a height, but no habitat, cultivation status, local name or use, so nothing shows whether the plant was cultivated, grew wild or had escaped. The accession is classified Unknown. No conservation priority is assigned.
Georeferencing
The label says Environs of Simla, not Shimla town itself. The infobox uses the modern spelling and current state and district. The coordinate is Shimla's own point in OpenStreetMap (node 316417040), 31.10, 77.17, used as a locality georeference rather than as a reconstructed collection point for the label's Environs of Simla. Shimla stands at about 2,130 m, which falls inside the label's 6,000 to 7,300 foot range, or 1,829 to 2,225 m. The date is stored at month precision because the label gives a 1–20 May interval. The 6,000–7,300-foot range is reported in prose rather than reduced to a single infobox elevation.
The coordinate georeferences the place the label names, at two decimal places, with the mapped object named above. The town itself is taken to about 5 km (its municipal area is 35.34 km², English Wikipedia, Shimla, with 1 km for the rounding of the point), and the label's Environs of Simla reach beyond it, so the uncertainty is set at twice that. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 10 km. Éloise 06:11, 18 September 2026 (+07)
Editorial treatment
The occurrence record gives only the surname Schlagintweit. The collector field and prose retain that form because the inspected sheet does not identify which member of the collecting family made this gathering.
Source citations remain in the article. Éloise 20:14, 16 September 2026 (+07)
Sequence data
The infobox lists BioSample SAMEA115332549 as the same lot as this accession because the tissue was taken from this sheet:
- its specimen_voucher attribute is L.1592669, the catalogue number of this sheet at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center;
- its collector and date (Schlagintweit, 1856-05-01) are the sheet's.
The article reports what the archive's entries say about the sampling and the sequencing, and no analysis of the data. Éloise 04:27, 5 October 2026 (+07)
