Evidentiary scope

The article rests on the RSC listing for Highland Thai and on the Kwik Seeds listing of the same line. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). The listings place the population in the highlands of northern Thailand and the Burmese border region. They name no province, village, grower or collector. RSC gives no sourcing year, and no archived version of its listing gives one (see below); Kwik Seeds gives 2008. Both say the seed on sale is second-generation, reproduced by open pollination outside Thailand, so the accession is a reproduction of the collected population. Georeferencing

The listings give only "the highlands of Northern Thailand and the nearby border regions of Burma" and a latitude of 19° N. They name no province. So that the accession appears on the map, the coordinate is inferred: the middle of Thailand's extent along 19° N in OpenStreetMap (relation 2067731, from 97.74° E to 101.31° E), rounded to two decimal places: 19.00, 99.52. OpenStreetMap places that point in Mueang Pan District, Lampang Province. It is an inference from the listings, not a collection site, so the province field stays blank and the region code is UNK. Editorial treatment

Accession ID. RSC-THA-UNK-0120080001: UNK because the listings name no province; the year 2008 comes from Kwik Seeds, the only listing that gives one. The month digits are 01 because no month is given.
Name. Highland Thai Reproduction 2008. The seed on sale is a reproduction, not a general population collected at source, and it is not an inbred line, so neither the "General Population" nor the "IBL" pattern of the other RSC accessions fits. The name follows the pattern of the wiki's feral selections (<place> Feral Selection <year>).
Reproduction. "Second-generation, reproduced through open-pollination outside Thailand" is entered as accession type Reproduction, sourcing type First generation reproduction (one generation grown from the collected seed), pollination type Open pollination and autochtonous No.
Collector. Left blank. RSC sourced the seed "through collectors at source" and names none.
Primary purpose. Multipurpose. Neither listing has a purpose line; RSC files the line under Hemp & Multipurpose and describes a hollow-stemmed fibre trait.
Harvest. "Regional Harvest: December" is entered as a December harvest.
Height. 2 to 6 m, the lowest and highest figures in the versions of the RSC listing: 2 to 5 m now, as on Kwik Seeds, and 3 to 6 m from August 2020 to January 2023 (see below).
Not entered. Leaf shape and flower structure, because the listings describe them only relative to other Thai landraces ("notably broader leaflets", "denser bud formation"). Leaf colour, because the green and purple phenotypes are not described as leaf colours.
Places. Hawaii, where RSC's quoted grower is, is left unlinked.

Conservation priority

High. RSC called the line "an unusual and rare landrace" from October 2019 to April 2021, and Kwik Seeds still does. The listings say it is cultivated by various ethnic groups of the northern border highlands, including the Lahu. Source discrepancies

Sourcing. RSC: "The Real Seed Company, through collectors at source in northern Thailand", no year. Kwik Seeds: "The Real Seed Company, northern Thailand (2008)".
Yunnanese parent. RSC: "Yunnanese hemp". Kwik Seeds: "Yunnanese ‘chinensis’". The RSC listing read "chinensis" until January 2021 (below).
Genetics line. RSC: "‘Highland Thai’ Cannabis Landrace". Kwik Seeds: "Highland Thai Ganja Domesticate (“Landrace”)". The RSC listing used that line from April 2021 to January 2023 (below).
Characteristics. RSC: "Tall; light-green or purple variants; unusual musky citrus aromas; dreamy, heady yet centred high". Kwik Seeds: "tall; green and purple; unusual aromas; centred high". The RSC listing gave the same four characteristics until October 2022.
Effects. RSC attributes the quoted description of the high to "a grower in Hawaii" and calls the effects milder than those of "the Isan and Lao strains which produced ‘Thai stick’". Kwik Seeds quotes the description without attribution and contrasts it with "the fierce intensity of classic Isan-Lao ganja". Both are earlier RSC wordings (below).
Only on RSC. The classification line and the recommendation of Burmese.
Only on Kwik Seeds. "An unusual and rare landrace that’s recommended to collectors and breeders." The RSC listing carried the sentence until April 2021.

The Wayback Machine holds 23 versions of the RSC listing, from August 2019 to March 2026, and all were read. All give the same sourcing line, without a year, and the same note that the seed is second-generation, so all are treated as describing the seed now on sale.

Genetics line. "Highland Thai landrace strain (Thai-Burmese or Yunnanese x Thai)" in 2019; "Highland Thai Landrace (Thai - Burmese or Yunnanese x Thai)" from August 2020 to January 2021; "Highland Thai Ganja Domesticate (“ Landrace ”)", the Kwik Seeds line, from April 2021 to January 2023; the current line from June 2023. The article reports the Thai-Burmese or Yunnanese × Thai genetics from the versions of 19 August 2019 and 25 January 2021.
Yunnanese parent. "Yunnanese ‘chinensis’", as on Kwik Seeds, until January 2021; "Yunnanese hemp" from April 2021.
Height. "3 – 5 metres" in 2019, "3 – 6 metres" from August 2020 to January 2023 and "2 – 5 metres" from June 2023. The article cites the versions of 19 August 2019, 5 August 2020 and 30 January 2023.
Classification. The current classification line first appears in August 2020.
Description. The August 2019 version has "Calyxes" where later versions have "Bracts". The quoted description of the high has no attribution in August and October 2019, as on Kwik Seeds, and is attributed to "a grower in Hawaii" from December 2019. The contrast with "the fierce intensity of classic Isan-Lao ganja" and the sentence recommending the line to collectors and breeders, both still on Kwik Seeds, last appear in April 2021; the comparison with the strains that produced "Thai stick" appears from August 2021. From April 2021 to January 2023 the listing said the line "was being cultivated" by various ethnic groups; earlier and later versions say "is cultivated". The current characteristics line and the recommendation of Burmese first appear in January 2023.

Photographs

The infobox image and the first three gallery photographs are four of the five photographs on the RSC listing, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. The fifth is an identical copy of the first under another file name and is not used. The current listing gives the photographs no captions. In August 2019 (Wayback Machine) the listing showed a copy of the infobox photograph, hosted on kwikseeds.com under the same file name, captioned "Highland Thai outdoors in Hawaii", and a tighter crop of the last gallery photograph, captioned "Highland Thai landrace strain outdoors in Hawaii". The captions of those two photographs therefore give that place and the year of the caption. The other two gallery photographs were not on the 2019 listing, so their captions say only what each image shows. The 2019 listing also showed two photographs captioned "outdoors in Thailand" and one of seed, all hosted on kwikseeds.com and on neither listing now. The two "outdoors in Thailand" photographs are the last two gallery images, fetched from those kwikseeds.com URLs on 17 September 2026. The Wayback Machine holds the 2019 page but no copy of the image files, so their bytes were not compared with the 2019 copies; the file names and the captions are the page's own. Collection and reproduction split

This page is the collection made through collectors at source in northern Thailand, which Kwik Seeds dates to 2008. The seed RSC lists is a second generation grown outside Thailand and is now 2008 RSC Highland Thai Reproduction.

Every archived version of the listing, from the earliest of 19 August 2019 to the most recent read, says "These seeds are second-generation, reproduced through open-pollination outside Thailand", so RSC has never offered the collection's own seed and the two accessions have always been distinct in the source.

The photographs divide by their 2019 captions. The two taken outdoors in Thailand show the population where it grows and stay here, one of them as the infobox image; the two captioned outdoors in Hawaii show the reproduction and moved to it. The two photographs with no caption of RSC's own show plants among forest vegetation and stay here.
