Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The article rests on the RSC listing for Hispar Valley and on the Kwik Seeds listing of the same line. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). The listings are short. They give the valley, the region, the 2023 harvest, the purposes and a classification. They name no village or farmer, and they describe the plants only by reference to Hopar Valley. Both listings showed the line as out of stock when read. The conservation priority is Medium; the basis is below. Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)

Georeferencing

The listings name the Hispar Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan and give a latitude of 36° N. The coordinate is Hispar village in OpenStreetMap (node 772708705), rounded to two decimal places: 36.17, 74.99. OpenStreetMap places the village in Nagar Khas Tehsil, Nagar District, which is entered as the district. The listing names the valley, not the village, so the point marks the valley's named settlement, not a collection site. Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)

Editorial treatment

  • Accession ID. RSC-PAK-GIL-0120230001 takes GIL from Gilgit-Baltistan, the first-level unit the listing names. It is entered without a suffix, as states are. The month digits are 01 because the listing gives none.
  • Page type. The Hispar Valley is linked as a place but is not entered as a growing area; it has not been classified as one.
  • Collector. Angus, as on the other accessions whose sourcing line reads "Landrace Genetics".
  • Purposes. Sieved charas and bhang are entered as Recreation, culinary seed as Food. "Charas (sieved resin)" is entered as processing method Dry-sift, as on the Balkhi, Chitrali and Helmand accessions.
  • Height. 1 to 4 m, RSC's range and the fuller one (see below).
  • Related accession. RSC-PAK-GIL-0120220001, because the listing tells growers to expect plants like those of Hopar Valley.
  • Conventions. Photoperiod Short-day and introgression Minimal follow the other RSC accessions; neither listing states them. Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)

Conservation priority

Medium. A 2023 Karakoram collection through Landrace Genetics; the listings say to expect plants like the neighbouring Hopar Valley accession, so a second source of the same type is known. Neither states rarity. RSC states no conservation priority of its own, so the rating is the wiki's, on the four values it uses for accessions: Critical, High, Medium and Low. Éloise 21:05, 17 September 2026 (+07)

Source discrepancies

  • Height. RSC: "1 – 4 meters". Kwik Seeds: "up to 2 meters". The Hopar Valley listings differ the other way round (see Talk:RSC-PAK-GIL-0120220001).

The listings otherwise carry the same text. Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)

Archived versions

The Wayback Machine holds ten versions of the RSC listing, from April 2024 to May 2026. All give the 2023 harvest and carry the current text, so they add nothing to the article. Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)

Photographs

The page has no image. The listings' only photograph is filed as "Hopar-Valley-landrace-cannabis-2022-harvest", and it matches a photograph on the Hopar Valley listing. It is not used here. Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)

USDA genebank accession

The U.S. National Plant Germplasm System holds this seed as G 33869 (GRIN-Global entry), received on 25 July 2024 in a donation from Angus. The infobox lists it as the same lot as this accession:

  • the entry carries the listing's name, "Hispar Valley", and carries no narrative beyond the donor's type, a charas landrace;
  • The GRIN entry gives no collection year, so the match rests on the listing's history: all ten archived versions of the RSC listing, from April 2024 to May 2026, give the 2023 harvest; RSC sold no other Hispar Valley lot before or after the donation of 25 July 2024.

The entry's collector field is not used as evidence: GRIN enters Angus as collector on most accessions of his donations, including lines whose narratives name another collector or none. Éloise 06:29, 4 October 2026 (+07)
