Evidentiary scope

The article rests on the RSC listing for Helmand and on the Kwik Seeds listing of the same line. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). The listings give the province, the 2022 date and the harvest month. They also report germination tests. They name no district, village or farmer. The account of cultivation emerging around 2008 after eradication in Balkh is the listings' and has not been checked against other sources; the article attributes it to RSC. The Mazari comparison is the listings' inference from a farmer preference they do not source; Kwik Seeds carries it now and RSC did in 2023 and early 2024. The article attributes it. Editorial treatment

• Accession ID. RSC-AFG-HEL-0120220001 takes HEL from Helmand Province. The province is entered with the suffix that the naming convention requires, as RSC-AFG-BAL-0120190001 now is. The month digits are 01, as on the other RSC accessions, because the listing gives no month.
• Collector. Angus, following RSC-AFG-BAL-0120190001 and RSC-PAK-KHY-0120210001, whose listings also give the sourcing as "Landrace Genetics". The listings describe the accession as "newly collected directly in the Helmand region".
• Leaf shape. "Indica-type leaflets" is entered as Broad, following RSC's Indicas category, which describes Indicas as having broad oblanceolate leaflets. Versions of the RSC listing from July 2024 to June 2025 say "broad leaflets" outright, and the second pass cites them.
• Processing. "Charas (sieved)" is entered as Dry-sift, as on the Balkhi and Chitrali accessions. Bhang is kept in the processing notes.
• Viability. Entered as Viable; both listings report good germination (see below).
• Growth pattern. Left blank, because "semidwarf architecture" has no equivalent in the vocabulary. Photoperiod Short-day and introgression Minimal follow the other RSC accessions; neither listing states them.

Source discrepancies

• Governor. RSC: eradication "implemented by Governor Atta Muhammad Nur". Kwik Seeds: "implemented by Governor Abdullah Abdullah". RSC's own listing also named Abdullah Abdullah in March 2023 and has named Atta Muhammad Nur since October 2023. The article follows RSC's current listing.
• Germination. RSC: re-tested in summer 2025, "good germination rates (c. 80%)". Kwik Seeds: re-tested in summer 2025, "good germination rates"; also "Repeatedly tested for viability, these seeds show close to 100% viability". The article reports both. RSC's listing carried the "close to 100% viability" sentence from March 2023 to March 2024. In June 2025 it carried a discount note that viability "may have dropped below 80%".
• Genetics line. RSC: "Afghan Cannabis Landrace", described as "Indica-type". Kwik Seeds: "Afghan Traditional Domesticate (Landrace)".
• Only on RSC. The semi-dwarf architecture, the Indica-type leaflets and the photographs taken at 40° N.

• The genetics line read "Afghan Traditional Domesticate ("Landrace")" in March 2023, as Kwik Seeds still does, and "Afghan Cannabis Landrace" from October 2023.
• "Indica-type" first appears in July 2024, with "fat, broad leaflets". "Broad leaflets" runs to June 2025, and "Indica-type leaflets" appears from October 2025.
• The note on the photographs read "a plant from this accession at 40° N in mid July" from November 2024 to June 2025. From October 2025 it names male and female plants, in the foreground only.

RSC states that its images show male and female plants from this accession at 40° N in mid-July, and that only the foreground plants belong to it. The captions follow that statement.
