Dating
PTV News's article is dated 2 November 2026 and relies on "a news release Saturday" (31 October). It says the passenger "arrived from Bangkok, Thailand on Oct. 29", and its photo caption gives the seizure as "on Oct. 29, 2026". The item uses 29 October.
Source discrepancies
PTV News does not give the passenger's age or the hour. The Daily Tribune, reporting a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency statement of Friday 30 October, writes "Authorities arrested a 62-year-old American" who "was intercepted at the airport's customs secondary inspection area Thursday, 29 October" at "around 8:35 p.m.", and gives the weight as "approximately 17,464 grams of dried leaves". The Philippine Star writes "A 62-year-old American was arrested". The summary follows PTV News and leaves the age out.
Quantities
The total of 17,464 grams is the sum of two weighed lots in the article: "5,122 grams" in the first bag and "12,342 grams" in the second. The values the article gives, P5.12 million and P12.34 million, are estimates and are not stored.
Related news items
The PTV News article also reports "7,335 grams of suspected kush" found in abandoned luggage at the same terminal on 26 October. That find is recorded as its own news item.
Map pin
The pin is Wikidata's point for Terminal 3 of the airport (Q55622055), rounded to two decimals, as an event site.
