Identifier

The accession identifier is NPG-PAK-KHY-0020240001, built to the grammar in the project's naming reference: holder NPG (the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System), ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, province segment, month and year of collection, sequence. The entry gives no collection date, so the date segment is month 00 and the year the genebank received the seed, 2024, and the descriptive name carries no year. The sequence counts this holder's accessions with the same country, province and date. The genebank's own number is G 33897.

Sourcing

Everything on this page comes from the GRIN-Global entry, as it stood on 27 October 2026: the passport data, the source history and the donor's narrative. The narrative is the donor's own account of the seed, edited lightly by the curator. The entry's source history repeats a line saying that Angus collected the seed on every accession of the July 2024 donation, and its collector field names Angus on all of them; the narrative names no collector, so the infobox leaves the field empty.

Accession type

The infobox gives the type as a selection, from the note's understanding that the seed was selected from outstanding individual plants. The note does not say who made the selection or from which population, and the passport's improvement status is landrace.

Place

The passport gives only Pakistan as the origin; the province comes from the point the entry publishes (next section). The lot's name places it in the Tirah valley, and the note questions that; the page reports both.

Other accessions

The donation holds seven Tirah lots with the same note, received together: (6F) (NPG-PAK-UNK-0020240002), (7A) (NPG-PAK-UNK-0020240003), (7E) (NPG-PAK-UNK-0020240004), (7F) (NPG-PAK-UNK-0020240005), (7H) (NPG-PAK-UNK-0020240006), (N) (NPG-PAK-UNK-0020240007). The Real Seed Company sold Tirah seed of the 2022 harvest when they were received, on the wiki as RSC-PAK-KHY-0120220001, linked as related; the sources do not tie these selections to it.

Georeferencing

The point 33.7340, 71.0140 is the one the entry publishes; the donor added it in September 2026. OpenStreetMap places it in Lower Orakzai Tehsil, Orakzai District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (relation 16502874), 6.1 km east of the point of the wiki's Tirah page, inside the growing area that page describes. The note itself doubts that the seed came from Tirah, so the point is used as the holder's own, at the precision published, and is not shown to be the place the seed was gathered. Basis: holder's georeference. Uncertainty: not stated by the genebank.
