Evidentiary scope
The accession rests on two sources: the department's printed inventory entry for plant introduction 21063 (Inventory No. 13 (1908), p. 136) and the entry for PI 21063 in GRIN-Global, the database of the National Plant Germplasm System, as it stood on 27 October 2026. The inventory gives the collector, his number, a date, the village and a one-line note. GRIN-Global states that the lot "no longer exists and can not be requested", so the page gives the lot as gone. No conservation priority is assigned.
Identifier
The identifier NPG-CHN-UNK-1219060001 follows the wiki's seed-accession grammar: holder, ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, province segment, month, year, sequence. The department's own number for the lot is PI 21063.
NPGstands for the National Plant Germplasm System of the United States Department of Agriculture, whose database, GRIN-Global, carries the department's plant introductions.CHNis the ISO code for China.UNK: no province is recorded.- Month
12: December, the month the seed was gathered. - Year 1906 is the year the seed was gathered.
0001is the lot's place, in plant-introduction order, among the holder's lots from the same country, province, month and year.
Classification
The note reports the hemp's quality and does not say who grew it or where, so the accession is classified Unknown.
Collectors and donors
The inventory gives the seed as Meyer's number 711a with his note, and GRIN-Global lists him as collector, so he is given as collector.
Location and georeferencing
The inventory names Wu-li-pu, Manchuria, and nothing finer. The place has not been matched to a settlement on today's map, so the page has no point and the map is off. GRIN-Global gives Heilongjiang; the printed entry names only Manchuria, which then took in three provinces, so no province is entered.
Dates
The inventory prints the date of Meyer's number as "Dec. 27, 1907", six months after the consignment reached the department on 21 June 1907. GRIN-Global gives 27 December 1906, and Meyer's neighbouring numbers on the page are dated December 1906 and January 1907, so the collection date is 27 December 1906 and the identifier carries that month and year. The received date is 21 June 1907.
