Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The label places a cannabis plant in a meadow in the upper Mou-choul-go valley, at about 1,300 m, in August 1928, and records the collector's uncertainty: cult. vel nat.?, cultivated or native? The page reports the question; it does not answer it. The accession is classified Other and no conservation priority is assigned.

Label reading

Read from the holder's large image (1912 × 3000 pixels). Printed label: Expeditio centrali-asiatica sub duce D:ris Sven Hedin. / Turkestania sinensis (Prov. Sinkiang): in montibus / Bogdo Ola, / D. Hummel. Handwritten: 874 / in valle sup. Mou-choul-go, in prato (cult. vel nat.?), ca. 1300 m. (in the upper valley of Mou-choul-go, in a meadow, cultivated or native?, at about 1,300 m) / 19/8 1928.

Georeferencing

No coordinate is asserted. The valley names on Hummel's Bogdo Ola labels (Ozun-ava, Mou-choul-go, Losan-Go) were searched in Wikidata and, within a box over the Bogda Shan, in Nominatim, without result. The ending -go is probably Mongolian gol, river or river valley. The province field takes Xinjiang.

Editorial treatment

Collector. The collector field keeps the label's D. Hummel; the prose links David Hummel (1893–1984), the physician of Hedin's Sino-Swedish Expedition.

Taxon. The label gives the genus only, and the infobox takes the catalogue's Cannabis L.

Elevation. The infobox stores the label's ca. 1300 m.

Source discrepancies

  • The catalogue reads the note as (cult. ?); the label reads (cult. vel nat.?), cultivated or native?

These notes were recorded during accession preparation. Source citations remain in the article. Éloise 05:06, 9 October 2026 (+07)
