Border
The border is the part of the municipality of Dibulla (OpenStreetMap relation 1314633; DIVIPOLA code 44090) that lies inside the border of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta growing area, which follows ground at or above 200 metres. It is simplified and covers about 1,270 km², 72% of the municipality; the town and the coastal plain lie outside. The point in the infobox is a point inside the border, not a field.
Sources
- The status is Active: the eradication dataset lists marijuana eradicated in the municipality from 2007 to 2014, and the ombudsman's alert of May 2018 reports growing there.
- The Ministry of Defence's eradication dataset lists, for Dibulla with crop type marihuana: 84 rows, 27 May 2007 to 23 December 2014, 94.18 hectares (La Guajira: 140 rows, 200.7 hectares) (downloaded 20 October 2026). The figures on the page are sums of those rows.
- The ombudsman's alert of 2018 names the town of Dibulla, Palomino and Mingueo, which stand on the coast, outside the border; the dataset gives the municipality only. Neither says how much of the growing lay in the mountains.
- The 2018 El Heraldo piece is an opinion column. It calls Mingueo a buying centre and says the soils nearby suited the crop; it does not say where the plants grew. Mingueo is placed in Dibulla by the ombudsman's alert 045-18 (p. 5).
- Not used: coca found in Dibulla (alert 045-18); marijuana seized on the coastal highway; Britto's account of smuggling ports near Dibulla in the 1960s.
