Identifier

The accession identifier is CBG-UZB-UNK-0120020001, built from the holder, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, the province segment, the month, the year and the sequence number.

  • Holder segment CBG stands for Cannabiogen.
  • Country segment UZB and province segment UNK. The company names Uzbekistan and no place within it.
  • Year 2002 is the year of the earliest dated document found that lists the line: Cannabiogen's Spanish Taskenti page, captured by the Wayback Machine on 14 June 2002 (http://www.cannabiogen.com/esp/taskenti.html). No source gives a collection year, so, as for other vendor accessions without one, the identifier takes the first attested year. A Wayback Machine capture shows when the archive saw a page, not when the line went on sale, so the year is a lower bound and moves if an earlier capture or catalogue is found.
  • Month 01 is the placeholder used when the year comes from first attestation.

Sourcing

Cannabiogen's own pages, read from Wayback Machine captures: the Spanish page of 14 June 2002, the English page of 22 April 2003, the shop page of 15 October 2004 (http://www.cannabiogen.com/esp/tienda/semilla/taskenti.php), the Spanish regular-seed catalogue of 29 October 2012, and the feminised-seed listings of 30 January 2013 (Spanish) and 10 June 2013 (English).

Every statement about the line is the company's account of its own stock and is attributed to it. No collector, farmer, collection site or collection date is named on any of these pages, and no independent source for the line's origin was found.

The name Taskenti is the company's; it says the name comes from a hashish name. No page names any place in Uzbekistan, and none is entered here.

Typing

  • Classification: Other. Cannabiogen's account of the line is its own and is attributed in the article; a vendor listing does not establish the class of the source population.
  • Sourcing type: Unknown provenance. The listing gives no chain of custody from the source population to the seed on sale.
  • Accession type is left empty: the listing does not say whether the seed on sale is the original collection or a reproduction of it.
  • Cultivation status: Unknown. The company's home page still offered seed in April 2021 and only its Delta nutrient range in May 2022 (see Cannabiogen). That says nothing about whether anyone still grows the line.
  • Traits. The flowering times and aromas in the infobox are the company's 2002 and 2003 figures.

Figures as written

The 2002 listing gives two indoor figures: a flowering time of "55/65 días" and a maturation of "7-9 semanas". The infobox flowering fields take weeks: 55 and 65 days are 7.9 and 9.3 weeks, entered rounded as 8 and 9. The seven-to-nine-week maturation figure is reported in the article as written. From 2012 the catalogue gives 70 days, and the 2013 feminised listing 10 weeks; those belong to the later listings and are not entered.

Source discrepancies

  • Whether the line is a cross. 2002 to 2004 (Spanish and English pages, same text): "Es una variedad 100% índica, proveniente de Uzbekistán" and "A 100% Indica originated in Uzbekistan". 2013 feminised listings: "Es una variedad indica, proveniente de Uzbekistán cruzada en sus origenes con una NL" (Spanish, 30 January 2013) and "An Indica originated in Uzbekistan crossed in first instance to a NL" (English, 10 June 2013). The 2012 regular-seed catalogue gives only the type, "Indica Uzbekistan".
    • This accession is the line as the company listed it from 2002. The 2013 wording is reported in the article as the company's; the pages do not say whether the regular seed of 2002 and the feminised seed of 2013 come from the same stock, and none of them explains "NL". Nothing here says which account is right.
  • Flowering time. 55 to 65 days in 2002 to 2004; 70 days in 2012; 10 weeks in 2013.

Archived versions

The Spanish page (esp/taskenti.html) was captured on 14 June 2002 and the English page (esp/taskentieng.html) on 22 April 2003; the shop page of 15 October 2004 repeats the 2002 Spanish text. The regular-seed catalogue of 29 October 2012 lists Taskenti in packs of five and ten. The feminised-seed pages of January and June 2013 carry the revised description quoted above.

Georeferencing

No coordinate is asserted. The company names Uzbekistan and no collection point, region or town, and a point for the country would describe the country rather than the population.

Conservation priority

Not rated. The listing gives nothing about the size or status of a source population.
