Evidentiary scope
The label gives a name, a place, an altitude and a date. It gives no habitat, no use and no note on cultivation. The accession is classified Other. A single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned.
Label reading
Read twice, independently, from Meise's image (4814 × 7161 pixels); the two readings agree.
- Label: printed EX HERB. HORT. BOT. REG. KEW. / handwritten 3743. Cannabis sativa Linn. / Tanganyika: Shinyanga, 3800 ft. / B. D. Burtt / 12. iv. 1932.
- Holder's label: Herbier du Jardin Botanique de l'État, Bruxelles / Herbarium van den Rijksplantentuin, Brussel; Acc. 1933.
Georeferencing
The point -3.66, 33.43 is the city of Shinyanga, OpenStreetMap node 255591375. The label names Shinyanga and nothing within it. The label's altitude, 3,800 ft (about 1,158 metres), is within 30 metres of the SRTM height at the node (1,128 metres), which agrees with the identification. The edge of Shinyanga Urban District (OpenStreetMap relation 5741682) lies 7.7 to 19.9 km from the node; the point places the gathering at the town, not at a spot within it. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 10 km.
