Evidentiary scope
The label gives a town, a habitat of two words and a day: Alger, lieux incultes, 29 May 1909. The accession establishes the plant on uncultivated ground at Algiers on that date. It says nothing about who sowed it, whether it was sown at all, what it was used for or what it was called locally. It is classified Other. No conservation priority is assigned.
The classification is worth a second look. Lieux incultes places the plant on ground that was not under cultivation, which is close to what Feral is for and Faurel s.n., Maison-Carrée (1930) carries the same kind of note in French, Terres incultes. The deployed precedent for Feral among herbarium accessions is Cowan s.n., Algarah (1923), whose slip states where the plant came from and not what the ground was. A habitat phrase is weaker than an origin statement and the property's own guidance says to use Other where a preserved specimen cannot establish a population class. Both sheets are staged as Other and the alternative is recorded as ruling R7.
The name on the sheet
This sheet is stored under Cannabis sativa L. var. kif A.DC., determined by the collector. No other accession in the corpus carries that name.
The name is not in the International Plant Names Index, which returns nothing for it. Its place of publication was traced instead to the primary: de Candolle's Prodromus, volume 16 part 1, page 31, where the variety is defined as the plant cultivated in Algeria under the names kif and tekrouri and the reader is referred to Isidore Dukerley's note of 1866 for the description. Dukerley s.n., Bône (s.d.) in this batch is a sheet by that collector.
The infobox stores the name the sheet is filed under, not the current name. The catalogue carries both and gives Cannabis sativa L. as current.
Georeferencing
The publisher supplies a georeference of 36.76306 north, 3.05056 east with a stated uncertainty of two kilometres. That is a town-level point, not a collection point and the label gives no site within Algiers. No coordinate is asserted, which keeps this accession consistent with the rest of the historical corpus, where coordinates are left empty unless the label locates a site. The published georeference is recorded here so that it is not lost.
Editorial treatment
The annotations read Herbaier de l'Afrique du nord; duplicatum ex Herbario Universitatis Icosiensis. Universitas Icosiensis is the Latin name of the University of Algiers, from Icosium, the Roman name of the city. The sheet at Brno is therefore a duplicate and the primary sheet, if it survives, is in Algiers. Nothing in this batch searched for it; that is on the follow-ups list.
Herbaier is transcribed as the catalogue gives it. It is very likely Herbier.
No image of the sheet is published by the herbarium or by GBIF, so the label has been read only through the catalogue's transcription. Unlike the Paris sheets, this is an absence of an image and not a blocked one.
