Evidentiary scope

The label records a town, a date and a determination: Motihari, 20.8.1964, under the heading Flora of Bihar. It leaves the local name, altitude and notes blank. It records no habitat, cultivation, local name or use, so nothing shows whether the plant was cultivated, grew wild or had escaped. The accession is classified Unknown. It is a single gathering and shows no continuing population and no living germplasm holding. No conservation priority is assigned.

The sheet carries the label of the Central National Herbarium in Howrah and is held in Bangkok. The Forest Herbarium's stamp dates its accession there to 24 February 1983. How it reached Bangkok is not recorded on the sheet.

Georeferencing

The label names Motihari, a town, without an altitude. OpenStreetMap maps Motihari as a city (way/22826540) in East Champaran district, Bihar. The infobox georeferences it at 26.65, 84.91, which stands at 74 m on SRTM. It is a locality point for the town the label names, not a collection point. The district field follows the reverse geocode of the point. The town as OpenStreetMap maps it (way 22826540, about 18.8 km²) reaches 3.4 km from the point at its farthest edge, and 1 km is added for the rounding of the point. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 5 km.

Editorial treatment

The collector field uses the catalogue's name, Banerjee, S.P., in the house order S. P. Banerjee. The label's collector line has partly faded; its initials S. P. are legible.

Urticaceae is the label's family, an older placement of Cannabis; the article reports it as written.

The infobox image is the Forest Herbarium's own scan of SN 063406, which the herbarium publishes with all rights reserved. It is used under fair use, with the rationale on its file page.

The Central National Herbarium's own holdings were not searched. It may hold further sheets of this gathering. GBIF holds no other sheet of it and no preserved Cannabis specimen from Bihar.
