Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The catalogue places a cannabis plant at Tokyo, with no date. The label itself has not been seen. The catalogue gives no habitat and no note on cultivation, so the accession is classified Other; no conservation priority is assigned.
Label reading
Not read: the holder publishes no image of the sheet. The page reports the catalogue's fields as NSII and GBIF publish them (read 12 October 2026). NSII: catalogue number 2151C0001C02032370; place 日本;原标本无记录;东京 (Japan; not recorded on the original specimen; Tokyo); no collector, number or date; name Cannabis sativa, family Cannabaceae; no image. GBIF: the same catalogue number; country Japan; county 东京; no collector or date.
Georeferencing
No point is given. The catalogue names Tokyo but gives no date that can be placed. Tokyo named a city of fifteen wards from 1889, a city of 35 wards from 1932, and from 1943 the metropolis that replaced the city. With no date the name is ambiguous between these three areas, and the one it meant cannot be fixed. The province field gives Tokyo, which holds every one of them.
Editorial treatment
Catalogue only. The accession is made from the holder's catalogue alone, with no image; every fact on the page is the catalogue's, and the label may hold more than the catalogue transcribes.
Title. Two undated sheets from Tokyo in the Yunnan University Herbarium would share the title Anon. s.n., Tokyo (s.d.), so each adds the holder's catalogue number. The other, whose label was read, is Anon. s.n., Tokyo (s.d.), 02032350; nothing in either catalogue entry shows whether the two come from one gathering.
Place. The province field takes Tokyo, the catalogue's 东京. The catalogue's note 原标本无记录 (not recorded on the original specimen) stands in its province column; it may mean that the label names no province.
Source discrepancies
- None. GBIF gives the place and the absence of a date as NSII does.
