Discussion

Sources

  • Rathore et al. (2018), p. 128, is the only source found that names the dish. It gives the ingredients and the stone pots (patel), but no method or quantities, so the page gives none.
  • The phrase "along with wheat, rice flour" is quoted because it can be read as wheat and rice flour together or as either one.

Is it cannabis?

  • The dish is made "by using hemp seeds"; the paper's subject is wild hemp, Cannabis sativa.

Title

  • Aaksalu is the spelling of the paper's text (twice). Its abstract spells Aksalu, which is a redirect.
  • Thakur et al. (2004) list Aska, a rice-flour food of Lahaul. Nothing connects it to aaksalu, and it is not cited.

Kind and plant part

  • Dish. Seed.
  • Still made: yes, "prepared by large number of women during the winter season" in the 2015–2017 fieldwork.
