Identifier
The accession identifier is ATA-MDG-UNK-0120230001, built from the holder, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, the province segment, the month, the year and the sequence number.
- Holder segment
ATAstands for ATAO Genetics. - Province segment
UNK. The sources name two places in different regions: Toliara, in Atsimo-Andrefana, where the seed was obtained, and Betroka, in Anosy, where it probably comes from. See "Georeferencing" below. - Year 2023 is the year of the earliest dated source: ATAO's thread on the line, opened on 17 September 2023 with the seed just sown. No source gives a collection year. The year is a lower bound.
- Month 01 is the placeholder used when the year comes from first attestation.
Sourcing
ATAO's Overgrow thread "Madagascar Zamala" (https://overgrow.com/t/madagascar-zamala/123244/1, read in full on 12 October 2026), its auction thread of May 2024 (https://overgrow.com/t/roms-madagascar-server-fundraiser/149458/1), its post of 6 January 2024 in the thread "Atao Genetics", and its Hemp Depot listing (http://hempdepot.ca/seeds/Atao/index.html, read on 8 and 12 October 2026). Every statement about the seed and the plants is ATAO's own account and is attributed to it.
Typing
- Classification: Other. A seller's account does not establish the class of the source population.
- Accession type: Reproduction, sourcing type: Multi-generation reproduction. ATAO's seed is its own grow-out of imported seed, labelled P1, then F2 (May 2024), then P2.
- Parent accession is empty: the imported seed is not an accession on the wiki.
- Cultivation status: Unknown. ATAO wrote on 10 July 2026 that it had not worked the line since the P2, and on the same day that it planned a P3 "for next Winter". ATAO's website listed "Madagascar (private) P2" in October 2026.
Other Madagascar accessions
- VIB-MDG-UNK-0100000001 records a line of the same name that the same grower listed among the Vibes Collective's lines in March 2023, six months before this thread opened with new seed. No source says that the two are one seed lot, so they are not linked as one.
- RSC-MDG-ANO-0120250001 is The Real Seed Company's own collection from the Betroka area in 2025. Nothing connects it to this seed.
- In July 2026 ATAO wrote of a "new Zamal source" that is private. It is not this accession.
Generation labels
ATAO labelled the plants used for a free cross in January 2024 "P1", the seed of May 2024 "F2", and the seed at Hemp Depot in 2026 "P2". The counts are ATAO's and are attributed to it.
Photographs
The three photographs are from ATAO's Hemp Depot listing for this line (http://hempdepot.ca/seeds/Atao/images/, fetched 12 October 2026), which shows six, each with a watermark naming ATAO Genetics and the line. None of them appears on ATAO's listings of other lines.
Georeferencing
No point is given. The page records a grow-out, and the source population has no accession of its own. The sources also name two places for the seed that they cannot separate: Toliara (OpenStreetMap node 254609408), where the cannabis was obtained, and Betroka (node 889874221), about 250 km to the east, where ATAO says it "probably" grew.
