Storey PRE 52606 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected in Durban District in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, on 9 November 1923 by H. H. Storey. The National Herbarium (PRE) holds the sheet as PRE0372447-0.[1][2] A duplicate distributed by Pretoria is at the Herbarium of the University of Zurich as Z-000164609, and its label has been read.
Collection and locality
The database gives the locality as DURBAN DIST. and the date as 9 November 1923. PRE stores its older localities in upper case, with the parts separated by semicolons. The locality field carries the place in ordinary case; the article quotes the string as the database holds it.[1]
The Zurich label
The Zurich sheet carries a printed National Herbarium, Pretoria distribution card reading From the NATIONAL HERBARIUM, PRETORIA., with the district as Durban, Natal., the name as Cannabis sativa L., the date as 9-11-1923 and the collector as H. H. Storey. The collector's-number line is blank, which confirms that Pretoria's PRE 52606 is the herbarium's own number and not the collector's. The card is stamped Sublimatisirt, Zurich's mercuric-chloride treatment mark.[2]

Pretoria files the sheet as Cannabis sativa L. var. sativa; the Zurich card reads Cannabis sativa L.[1][2]
