Paz 20 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa grown at the herbarium of the University of Valle in Cali, Valle del Cauca Department, Colombia, and collected there on 12 December 1980 by Néstor Paz. The Missouri Botanical Garden holds a sheet as MO-3311165 and the New York Botanical Garden another as 1414389.[1][2]
Collection and locality
The typed label of the Missouri sheet, headed HERBARIO UNIVERSIDAD DEL VALLE and Cali, Colombia, reads Cultivada en el Herbario de la Universidad del Valle (grown at the University of Valle herbarium) and gives the number # 020 and the date 12-XII-/80.[1] New York's catalogue entry gives the locality Herbario de la Universidad del Valle. and the date 12 December 1980.[2]
Field observations
The label describes the plant as de unos 80 a 90 cm de altura (about 80 to 90 cm tall) and adds Planta altamente nociva para la salud (a plant highly harmful to health), and gives the common name Marihuana.[1]
Specimen and identification
Paz determined the plant as Cannabis sativa L.; the label dates the determination VI-24-/85.[1] The Missouri sheet shows a long branched stem with narrow-leafleted leaves.
