Chennai customs seize 15 kg of hydroponic ganja from a passenger arriving from Bangkok

PTI reported, citing a statement from Chennai Customs, that Air Intelligence Unit officers stopped a male passenger who had arrived at Chennai International Airport from Bangkok on 2 October 2026 as he tried to leave through the green channel. According to the report, officers found 26 airtight packets of suspected hydroponic cannabis weighing 15.02 kg in his checked baggage, concealed inside Thai food packets. Customs valued the cannabis at about Rs 5.26 crore, and the passenger was arrested under the NDPS Act and remanded to judicial custody.
