Excise officials seize about five quintals of ganja in fish ice-boxes at a Bhawanipatna courier warehouse

Orissa Post reported that the Kalahandi Excise Department seized about five quintals of cannabis on Sunday 27 September 2026 in a raid on a courier warehouse operated by Safex Press at Para Manandapur in Bhawanipatna block. According to the report, the cannabis was packed in 25 sacks concealed in ice boxes used for fish, and the consignment had been booked in the name of the Additional District Judge of Khurja in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh; authorities were investigating how the judge's name and address came to be used as the consignee details. The warehouse's chief manager, a 30-year-old from Uttar Pradesh, was arrested and produced in court. The raid was directed by District Excise Superintendent Ranjan Kumar Nayak.
