Customs seize 8.913 kg of hydroponic cannabis from a Bangkok passenger at Ahmedabad airport

Gujarat Samachar reported that officers of the Customs Air Intelligence Unit intercepted a passenger at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, after he arrived from Bangkok on Thai Airways flight TG 343 on 21 September 2026, and recovered 8.913 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis in 14 airtight packets from his check-in trolley baggage. The material tested positive on an NDPS field-testing kit and customs officials put its estimated market value at about 8.9 crore rupees. The passenger, described as a Mumbai resident, was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. DeshGujarat, which also carried the seizure, gives neither the date, the flight nor the value.
