Bandung police find cannabis plants in the back garden of a house in Cileunyi and detain a Ministry of Public Works contract employee

CNN Indonesia reported that narcotics detectives of Polrestabes Bandung searched a house in Cileunyi, Bandung Regency, on Friday 18 September and found cannabis plants in a back garden of about 2 by 1 metres. The article says the 49-year-old resident, a contract employee (PPPK) of the Ministry of Public Works, told investigators he had grown the plants since May 2026 and consumed them himself, giving some to colleagues. CNN Indonesia puts the count at 73 plants of various sizes; Kompas.id reported almost 50 and Kompas.com reported 28 seedlings. Kompas.com added that the ministry said it was suspending him.
