BNNP Sumbar seizes 29.85 kg of cannabis at Koto Baru in Agam and arrests two

RRI reported that the eradication and intelligence team of Badan Narkotika Nasional Provinsi Sumatera Barat stopped a car at the Simpang Pasar Koto Baru junction in Agam regency, West Sumatra, at about 04.50 local time on 15 September 2026 and seized 30 packets of dried cannabis with a stated net weight of 29,853.32 grams. The head of the provincial agency, Toton Rasyid, said the consignment was travelling from Mandailing Natal in North Sumatra to Padang Panjang, where a second man was detained the same morning at a filling station. Both men are identified only by their initials, and the second is described by Kompas.tv as a non-permanent lecturer at an unnamed higher-education institution in Padang Panjang. The agency said the second man stated under initial questioning that he had been instructed to receive the packets by a prisoner at Lapas Kelas IIB Bukittinggi, and described control of the shipment from inside the prison as suspected and under investigation.
