Police seize 214 kg of ganja from a Gwalior bound truck near Babina in Jhansi

Free Press Journal reported that a joint team of Jhansi police and the state Anti-Narcotics Task Force intercepted a truck near Babina in Jhansi district carrying 214 kilogrammes of cannabis, which police valued at about one crore rupees. According to the report the consignment had been loaded at Bhubaneswar in Odisha and the vehicle had travelled about 1,227 kilometres while avoiding checkpoints and toll plazas, and was about 100 kilometres short of Gwalior when it was stopped. Two men were arrested, a driver from Panipat district in Haryana and a second man from Gwalior. Police said that questioning indicated a wider network based in Gwalior and that the group had used roadside telephones during the journey to avoid being tracked. An embedded agency report quotes the circle officer for Sadar, Simran Singh, describing the raid as having taken place the previous evening.
