Mabanda gendarmes arrest five men with about 70 kg of cannabis and 1,373 tramadol tablets

APA reported, citing a judicial source, that the territorial gendarmerie brigade of Mabanda in Nyanga province arrested five Gabonese men on 11 September 2026. The men, described as gold miners based in Mouila, were carrying seven bags holding nearly 70 kg of cannabis together with 1,373 tramadol tablets, valued at about 10.05 million CFA francs. Investigators said the drugs were believed to have come from the neighbouring Republic of the Congo. The Tchibanga prosecutor Guychard Ndong Mebalé said the drug trafficking and money laundering case fell under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Libreville court of first instance, to which the suspects were to be transferred.
