Gendarmes dismantle a clandestine cannabis plot at Ayeme-Bokoue near Kango

Agence gabonaise de presse reported on 12 September 2026, citing judicial sources, that gendarmes of the Kango road traffic brigade discovered and dismantled a clandestine cannabis plot at the village of Ayeme-Bokoue, about twelve kilometres from Kango in Komo-Kango department. The agency described a parcel of roughly 300 square metres concealed within vegetation and holding several cannabis plants grown among a few banana and tobacco plants. A man of 51, described as already known to the judicial services for similar matters, was detained at the scene and was to be presented to judicial authorities. Gabon Actu, which reported the same operation a day earlier, gave the area as about three hectares, a figure the state agency and Gabonreview do not support. No plant count, weight or operation date was given by any outlet.
