Nanded NDPS court sentences two to ten years over 1,127 kg of ganja seized in 2021

The Free Press Journal reported that the Additional Sessions Judge of the Special NDPS Court at Biloli in Nanded district convicted Gokul Narayan Rajput, the driver of a truck, and Sunil Yadav Mahajan, its co-driver, in a case brought by the Narcotics Control Bureau's Mumbai Zonal Unit. Each was sentenced to ten years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 1 lakh, with a further six months rigorous imprisonment in default of payment, and the court ordered the truck and other seized articles confiscated. The case arose from the interception of the truck on 15 November 2021 near the village of Manjram in Naigaon taluka, where officers recovered 49 bags containing 1,127 kg of ganja. According to the report the prosecution established that both men were in conscious possession of a commercial quantity and had not satisfactorily explained it.
