Customs find more than 34 kg of cannabis in a departing passenger's luggage at Techo International Airport

The Phnom Penh Post reported, citing the General Department of Customs and Excise, that officers at Techo International Airport found 71 packages of cannabis weighing more than 34 kg on a departing passenger on 3 September 2026. The department said the passenger was identified using the Global Travel Assessment System together with images from scanning equipment. The case was one of five drug seizures from departing passengers at the airport in the first two weeks of September, in which seven people were arrested.
