Sonamura police seize 541.2 kg of dry ganja in 12 drums at Matinagar Madhya Para

Sonamura police station, working with the 81 Battalion of the Border Security Force and the 11th Battalion of the Tripura State Rifles, raided a residential property at Matinagar Madhya Para in Ward No. 5 of Sonamura on 29 August 2026. The team was reported to have seized 541.2 kilograms of dry ganja packed in 12 blue plastic drums, together with 504,000 rupees in cash, several Android mobile telephones and other documents. The owner of the house was arrested and a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Investigators were reported to be examining the source of the consignment and its intended destination.
