Bareskrim reports dismantling a cannabis network shipping from Medan to Java in parcels disguised as textiles

The narcotics directorate of Indonesia's national police criminal investigation agency said on 28 August 2026 that it had arrested five people and seized 9.4 kilograms of cannabis, together with a quantity of prescription medicine, in an operation running from 15 to 27 August 2026 across Pasuruan, Brebes, Bogor and Medan. According to the directorate's head, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, the network took orders through an Instagram account and shipped consignments by a commercial courier in parcels made up to look like textile shipments. Police said the case began when officers inspecting a courier vehicle at Bakauheni port in South Lampung found two cannabis parcels sent from Medan to Pasuruan and Brebes, after which controlled deliveries led to the recipients. One recipient was reported to have been acting on the instruction of an inmate of a prison in Malang. Investigators traced the shared method back to Medan and arrested a 22 year old man at the courier's office there on 27 August 2026.
