Police seize 90 kg of cannabis from an ambulance at Srinagar in Pauri Garhwal

Pauri police reported stopping an ambulance during a vehicle check near the Awas Vikas ground at Srinagar on 23 August 2026 and finding nine sacks holding 90 kilogrammes of cannabis in place of a patient. Police valued the seizure at about 4.5 million rupees and arrested the driver, a resident of Chauras in Tehri district. A case was registered under sections 8, 20 and 60 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police said the driver told them during questioning that he had brought the cannabis from Rudraprayag to sell at a higher price at Srinagar and that he had been involved in drug trafficking previously. Police said they were working to identify others linked to the supply.
