BNNP Banten arrests a courier with about 15.5 kg of Aceh ganja in jamu bottles at the Merak toll gate

Radar Banten reported that the Banten provincial office of the National Narcotics Agency (BNNP Banten), working with the police and the regional customs office, arrested a 25-year-old courier on a Palembang to Jakarta bus at the Merak toll gate in Gerem, Grogol, Cilegon, on 13 August 2026. Officers said he was carrying about 15.5 kg of ganja from Aceh in 24 cylinders packed inside mineral-water bottles filled with herbal tonic (jamu). BantenTV quoted officials as saying the consignment had come through Medan, was meant for sale in Banten and Jakarta, and that the courier had made similar deliveries before. BNNP Banten burned about 15.4 kg of the seized ganja at its office on 16 September 2026 and kept the remainder for laboratory testing.
