Phuket passenger arrested at Delhi airport with 2.7 kg of suspected hydroponic cannabis
Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport arrested a passenger who arrived from Phuket on an Air India flight on 2 August 2026 after recovering four vacuum-sealed packets of a green-coloured substance suspected to be hydroponic cannabis from the baggage, weighing 2,759 grams including packing material. The passenger was intercepted after crossing the customs green channel on the basis of Advance Passenger Information System profiling, with the packets detected during X-ray screening. Delhi Customs said in a post on X that the passenger was arrested under Section 43(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985 and the substance seized with its concealing material and packaging under Section 43(a). The Tribune reported the packets had been hidden inside chocolate packets. Reported by ANI on 2 August 2026.
