Two Bangkok passengers arrested at Delhi airport with 18.15 kg of suspected hydroponic cannabis

Customs officers at Indira Gandhi International Airport arrested two passengers who arrived from Bangkok on 30 July 2026 after recovering 17 vacuum-sealed packets containing a green-coloured substance suspected to be hydroponic cannabis, 18.15 kg in total. The two were intercepted after crossing the customs green channel on the basis of Advance Passenger Information System profiling; X-ray screening of their baggage showed suspicious images that led to a detailed examination. Officials said the material had been concealed inside the baggage to evade detection. Both passengers were arrested and the suspected cannabis seized with its packaging under the NDPS Act, with investigation continuing into the source and intended destination. Officials disclosed the case on 1 August. Reported by The Tribune.
