BNN reports 12.3 tonnes of narcotics seized over 21 months including 3.37 tonnes of cannabis buds

At the 2026 International Anti-Narcotics Day commemoration in Bogor, West Java, on 23 July 2026, National Narcotics Agency head Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto reported more than 12.3 tonnes of narcotics seized between October 2024 and July 2026, across operations in Indonesia's 34 provinces leading to 1,259 arrests. Among the itemised seizures Seto gave 12.7 kilograms of marijuana alongside 126.3 kilograms of methamphetamine and 1,428 ecstasy pills. Separately in the same account he described a joint operation with the national police and customs at Gresik in East Java that recovered about 3.37 tonnes of cannabis buds. The report does not reconcile those two cannabis figures. Seto put the trade halted at an estimated Rp16.5 trillion, about US$896 million, with Rp165 billion in money-laundering assets secured.
