Prabowo names drug eradication a prerequisite for the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision

In remarks delivered by Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago at the 2026 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Bogor regency, West Java, on 23 July 2026, President Prabowo Subianto described narcotics eradication as a strategic investment in national competitiveness and as a prerequisite for the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. Prabowo said more than 4.15 million Indonesians aged between 15 and 64 had been exposed to drugs. He listed enforcement results for 2026 as including 147 kilograms of marijuana, 107.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 1,029 grams of ketamine, 1,250 millilitres of etomidate and 6,681 ecstasy pills, with Rp167.9 billion of assets linked to money laundering confiscated. "This is a firm political commitment and a national strategy of my administration," he said. The figures were attributed to the National Narcotics Agency, the national police, the armed forces and the customs and excise directorate.
