Mekhliganj police seize about 57.65 kg of ganja from a car at the Changrabandha bypass checkpost

Uttarbanga Sambad reported that Mekhliganj police searched a vehicle at the Changrabandha bypass checkpost in the morning on information received. The paper said officers stopped a car travelling from Cooch Behar towards Siliguri and that about 57.65 kg of ganja in 37 packets was found in compartments built into various parts of it. The driver was named in the report and given as a resident of Siliguri, and the report said he jumped into a nearby pond to escape and was pulled out and arrested. The block development officer and the officer in charge were present, and police told the paper they were investigating whether others were involved.
